In Ekiti State, former Governor Ayo Fayose was impeached on October 16, 2006, following accusations of mismanagement of public funds and involvement in serial killings. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, faced impeachment on November 2, 2006, over alleged gross misconduct, though his removal was later overturned by the courts, allowing him to return to office.
Joshua Dariye of Plateau State was impeached on November 13, 2006, amid allegations of siphoning public funds and money laundering, a legal battle that extended internationally. Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja of Oyo State was removed from office on January 12, 2006, due to financial mismanagement and corruption, though he was reinstated following a court decision.
