Dangote Takes Farouk Ahmed To EFCC Over Alleged Corruption.
According to Nivo News, the President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, through his legal representatives, has submitted a formal petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleging corruption against the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The petition was disclosed by the Dangote Group’s media team and comes after an earlier complaint filed with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which accused Ahmed of spending an estimated $5 million on his children’s secondary education in Switzerland. Although Dangote subsequently withdrew the petition from the ICPC, the anti-graft agency confirmed that its investigation into the matter would continue.
Dangote’s legal team explained that the withdrawal of the ICPC petition was a strategic step aimed at fast-tracking the legal process. The fresh petition before the EFCC alleges financial misconduct, abuse of office, and corrupt enrichment, with a request for a comprehensive investigation and prosecution should evidence of wrongdoing be established.
The petition, signed by Dangote’s lead counsel, Dr O.J. Onoja, stated that the business mogul is ready to present substantial evidence to support the claims of financial impropriety and official impunity against Ahmed. It also underscored the responsibility of the EFCC and other relevant agencies to decisively tackle corruption and financial crimes in Nigeria.
In urging swift action, the legal team cited previous court rulings to reinforce its position, expressing confidence that once a prima facie case is established, the judiciary would not hesitate to impose sanctions. Onoja further called on the EFCC leadership, under its Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede, to thoroughly probe the allegations and initiate appropriate legal proceedings if the claims are substantiated.

Documentation Issues: Further allegations suggest that officials issued identification cards for fees ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 CFA francs, only for those documents to be rejected at border checkpoints.
In response to these claims, the Council has urged the House committee to launch a formal investigation and to improve coordination between NAPTIP, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant security and civil society organizations.
