FG Voids FAAN Property Sales, Declares Airport Areas No-Go Zones.

Published

on

The Federal Government has annulled the sale of staff quarters belonging to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to private individuals, declaring that such properties must remain under public control due to security and operational considerations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the decision was disclosed in Abuja by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who said the move was approved by the Federal Executive Council.

The minister explained that all FAAN properties located within and around airport environments have been excluded from any form of disposal, stressing that airport zones are classified as sensitive security areas and are unsuitable for private residential occupation.

He noted that while the sale of government-owned properties dates back several administrations, the unique nature of airport environments makes such transactions inappropriate, particularly for individuals and families living within highly restricted operational zones.

Keyamo said concerns had been repeatedly raised over the continued disposal of staff quarters meant to accommodate essential airport personnel, including fire service officers, air traffic controllers and other critical workers whose proximity to airports is vital for efficient operations.

He added that airport-related properties should remain dedicated to aviation safety and security, warning that allowing private ownership in such areas poses long-term risks.

The government’s decision follows controversy surrounding FAAN staff quarters in Kano, where some serving and retired workers had laid claim to ownership of their official residences after making payments under an owner-occupier scheme.

The latest directive effectively voids such transactions, reinforcing the federal government’s position that properties within airport environments must remain in public hands to safeguard national security and ensure uninterrupted airport operations.

Three senior civil servants, who were transferred from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) to the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), have reported to investigators that they were assigned no responsibilities at the office. Although the Federal Government maintains it never established the PFIPC nor appointed Adeniyi Adeyemi as its Director-General, Adeyemi faces an eight-count charge of forgery and impersonation for allegedly claiming those roles.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to police and court records:

  • Adeyemi allegedly sent a request to the Accountant-General on April 4, 2025, for the deployment of accounting and auditing staff.

  • On August 28, 2025, the OAGF posted three officials—Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, and Wakili Saidu—to the agency.

  • Upon reporting for duty on September 8, 2025, the three officers were provided an open office space but were never given formal documentation, job descriptions, or work assignments.

  • The officials stated they had never heard of the PFIPC prior to their deployment.

  • Due to the total lack of work, the officers reported to the office only intermittently, ranging from once a week to three times a week, merely to make an appearance.

While investigators allege that Adeyemi forged government letterheads and appointment documents to secure the staff deployment, Adeyemi has denied these allegations, claiming he is being targeted by the Presidency.
