Rape Allegations: Pastor Chris Okafor Skips Police Invitation As Probe Deepens

Published

on

According to Nivo News, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, failed to honour a police invitation on Monday amid ongoing investigations into allegations of multiple rape and other offences capable of breaching public peace.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The cleric was instructed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, by 10:00 a.m. to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the department. The invitation followed directives from the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, for a comprehensive investigation into several complaints lodged against the pastor.

Police authorities stated that the summon was based on multiple petitions alleging sexual offences and other conduct considered capable of disrupting public order. The command also disclosed that security measures had been put in place to protect alleged victims and encouraged them to report to the SCID, assuring that their identities and those of witnesses would be kept strictly confidential.

However, as of Monday evening, Pastor Okafor had not presented himself at the SCID. A senior police officer, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that investigators waited throughout the day without seeing the cleric. Another source revealed that representatives allegedly reached out to the police on his behalf, requesting additional time and giving assurances that he would eventually comply with the invitation.

It was also gathered that none of the alleged victims or witnesses appeared at the SCID on Monday to provide statements or identify themselves. Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the police spokesperson were unsuccessful as calls and messages were not returned at the time of filing this report.

The controversy surrounding the pastor intensified in mid-December 2025 after a series of allegations surfaced on social media. Among the accusers is Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who claimed she had a prolonged relationship with the cleric and accused him of sexual misconduct and personal betrayals that allegedly affected her marriage.

Following public backlash, Pastor Okafor was reported to have addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, admitting to past mistakes and publicly seeking forgiveness. The unfolding scandal has also sparked reports that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may consider disciplinary measures, while the pastor is said to have stepped aside from ministerial duties pending the outcome of investigations.
