Nothing Serious Between Us – Lookman Plays Down Osimhen Touchline Drama
According to Nivo News, Nigeria’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was briefly overshadowed by a moment of tension involving Super Eagles forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Osimhen, who netted a brace in the encounter at the Fes Sports Complex, appeared visibly frustrated midway through the second half after Lookman declined a passing option despite the striker being well positioned. The incident sparked murmurs in the stands and momentary concern on the Nigerian bench, even as the team maintained firm control of the match.
The flashpoint occurred around the 63rd minute, with Osimhen seen expressing his displeasure and pulling away from captain Wilfred Ndidi while gesturing in frustration. Shortly afterward, the striker requested to be substituted and was replaced in the 70th minute, drawing mixed reactions from sections of the crowd as he left the pitch.
Despite the brief disruption, Nigeria’s performance remained dominant. Lookman and Akor Adams added further goals to Osimhen’s earlier brace, sealing a convincing win and securing the Super Eagles’ place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Addressing the incident after the match, Lookman dismissed any suggestion of discord, describing the exchange as a normal, heat-of-the-moment reaction common in top-level football. He praised Osimhen’s importance to the team, noting that the striker’s hunger and drive continue to inspire the squad.
The Atalanta forward emphasised that unity within the team remains intact, stating that personal milestones are secondary to collective success. He added that mutual understanding and respect guide the players as they remain focused on progressing further in the competition.
Statistically, Nigeria’s attacking force has been among the most effective at the tournament, with Osimhen registering three goals and three assists, while Lookman has contributed three goals and four assists. Nevertheless, footage of the exchange circulated widely on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans, with some questioning Osimhen’s conduct during a match already firmly in Nigeria’s favour.
Nigeria will now shift focus to the quarter-final stage, where they are set to face either Algeria or the Democratic Republic of Congo on January 10.

The lawmakers, Barile Nwakoh representing Khana Constituency I and Emilia Amadi of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, made the appeal shortly after two other legislators publicly urged restraint and dialogue over the impeachment process.
Earlier in the week, lawmakers Sylvanus Eyinna Nwankwo and Peter Abbey called on their colleagues to approach the dispute with caution and understanding, advocating alternatives to impeachment as a means of resolving tensions between the legislative and executive branches of government.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Minority Leader Nwankwo, who represents Omuma State Constituency, said that appeals from community and political leaders had urged leniency and reconciliation. He encouraged fellow legislators to reconsider the impeachment and pursue peaceful solutions.
Abbey, representing Degema State Constituency, acknowledged that the governor may have breached constitutional provisions but emphasised the importance of allowing for corrective measures, noting that leaders have a responsibility to prevent similar issues in the future.

Seun Kuti Explains Why He Continues To Criticize Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
According to Nivo News, Nigerian musician and activist Seun Kuti has explained why he continues to critique prominent Christian leaders, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Kuti, the youngest son of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, spoke during an appearance on Morayo Afolabi-Brown’s television programme on Tuesday. The discussion addressed his frequent public criticisms of senior pastors, particularly Pastor Adeboye, who is widely revered and affectionately called Daddy GO by church members.
The host noted that many Nigerians place great faith in Pastor Adeboye’s prayers and spiritual influence and suggested that Kuti should refrain from publicly challenging religious leaders. In response, Kuti stated that faith leaders cannot operate beyond public scrutiny when their influence extends into societal and political matters.
He emphasized that criticism becomes inevitable when religious institutions influence people who do not share their beliefs. Kuti further argued that churches often move from guiding personal worship to shaping public life without providing practical solutions to pressing social problems. He suggested that religious organizations should prioritize concrete welfare programs, such as free hospitals and maternal services, rather than relying solely on spiritual pronouncements, especially since congregants contribute financially through offerings and donations.
When the host admitted that Kuti’s previous remarks about Pastor Adeboye had personally upset her, he replied that societal change requires accountability, not silence. Kuti added that physical involvement in a church is not necessary to evaluate its impact on the wider community.
