Anthony Joshua Contemplates Retirement Following Tragic Car Accident In Nigeria.
According to Nivo News, former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua is reportedly considering retiring from the sport following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his closest aides. His uncle, Adedamola Joshua, disclosed the development, noting that the 36-year-old British-Nigerian boxer narrowly escaped death when a Lexus SUV he was travelling in collided with a stationary truck along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway last week. The crash instantly killed his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and personal trainer, Latif Ayodele.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at the family residence in Sagamu, Ogun State, Adedamola said, “The major thing there is that he has retired from boxing. Each time he’s fighting in the ring, the emotional strain on us is immense. Now that he has said he’s leaving while the ovation is highest, we are relieved.” He confirmed that Joshua had communicated the decision directly to the family.
In the wake of the tragedy, Joshua shared an emotional Instagram post titled “My Brothers’ Keeper,” featuring images of him with the grieving families, along with heart emojis and a military helmet. A source from his camp highlighted Joshua’s lifelong loyalty to his team, noting that Ghami and Ayodele had been integral to his career.
The accident occurred as Joshua and his team were returning from visiting extended family. He sustained minor injuries and was rushed to the hospital, while Ghami and Ayodele were pronounced dead at the scene. Joshua later attended their funeral service at the London Central Mosque, followed by cremation, where hundreds paid their respects.
Residents in Sagamu expressed relief over Joshua’s survival but sorrow for the deceased. Community elder Adeniji Taiwo stated, “We thank God we didn’t lose our son, and for those who lost their children, God will help comfort them. We pray nothing like this happens again.”
Amid speculations that Joshua might distance himself from Nigeria, his uncle downplayed the fears, emphasizing the family’s faith and connection to their roots. “Emotionally, you can react, but in time, you realize this is always your home,” Adedamola said.

Osun Govt Accuses Police Of Unprofessional Conduct In High-Profile Arrests.
According to Nivo News, the Osun State Government has faulted the state Police Command over what it described as an unprofessional and unlawful approach to recent arrests carried out in the state. The government raised its concerns in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The state government expressed worry over the Police’s handling of public communication on the matter, noting that an initial statement released by the command was later withdrawn and replaced with a revised version, a development it described as contradictory and misleading.
The controversy revolves around the arrest of Apesin Abiodun Adegoke and Iyiola Monsuru. While the Police claimed the arrests were based on a petition allegedly written by Bola Oyebamiji, the government dismissed this claim as inaccurate. Official records, according to the government, show that the petition was authored by Arimiyau Owoade, the APC Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, over statements said to have affected the party’s candidate in the area.
The government further disputed the Police’s description of the arrests as mere “invitations,” insisting that both individuals were taken into custody without any formal invitation. It was stated that Adegoke was arrested on January 7 at his mechanic workshop, which the Police later referred to as his hideout.
Claims by the Police that Adegoke admitted to the offence or pleaded for leniency were also rejected by the government, which challenged the security agency to provide evidence to support such assertions. The state noted that Adegoke remained in detention until late on January 12, contrary to Police claims that he had been arraigned on January 9.
The government added that an application for administrative bail was submitted by Adegoke’s legal counsel on January 8 but was ignored by the Police until a follow-up reminder was issued, after which bail was eventually granted.
Citing provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act and the Police Act, the state government emphasized that suspects in non-capital offences should not be detained for more than 24 hours without arraignment and should be granted administrative bail where court appearance is not immediately possible.
Describing the six-day detention as an abuse of authority, the Osun State Government urged the Police Command to uphold professionalism, respect the rule of law, and refrain from actions that could suggest political interference.

Terror Financing Allegations: Army Arrests Brigadier General Amid Growing Tension.
The Nigerian Army has reportedly arrested and detained a serving Brigadier General over alleged links with a retired senior officer, Maj. Gen. Danjuma Hamisu Ali-Keffi (retd.).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the arrest is believed to be connected to Ali-Keffi’s ongoing legal and public confrontation with a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), over allegations arising from terrorism-financing investigations.
Ali-Keffi, who was appointed in October 2020 by former President Muhammadu Buhari to head the covert Presidential Task Force known as Operation Service Wide, has consistently alleged that suspects arrested by the task force for terrorism financing were later released while in military custody.
Military sources disclosed that the detained officer is Brig. Gen. Gabriel E. Archibong, who has reportedly been in custody for more than ten days and is currently held at the Army’s Special Investigation Bureau. Archibong is said to be a serving officer at the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command in Minna, Niger State.
Sources indicated that the arrest was linked to the frequency of Archibong’s communication with Ali-Keffi and claims that he failed to cooperate fully with military authorities. It was further disclosed that soldiers conducted a search at his residence in Lugbe a day after his arrest, during which his electronic devices were seized, although no incriminating materials were reportedly found.
Concerns have been raised within military circles that the detention could negatively affect the officer’s career and wellbeing, with insiders insisting that he committed no offence.
There are also claims that the development may be tied to efforts by the military to defend itself against a lawsuit filed by Ali-Keffi at the National Industrial Court in Abuja in December 2025. In the suit, Ali-Keffi is challenging his arrest, 64-day detention without charge and compulsory retirement, alleging torture, denial of fair hearing and violations of constitutional and military regulations.
Ali-Keffi further claimed that his detention enabled the release of all terrorism-financing suspects arrested by Operation Service Wide and alleged that he and his family received death threats, forcing them into repeated foreign travel for safety and resulting in severe emotional and financial hardship. He is seeking ₦100 billion in compensatory damages, another ₦100 billion in punitive damages, ₦120 million in special damages, and an order nullifying his compulsory retirement.
The retired general has also disclosed that investigations carried out by his task force, in collaboration with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, uncovered alleged links between terror-financing suspects and senior military officers, financial officials and other government figures. While clarifying that he was not directly accusing the individuals named, Ali-Keffi maintained that investigations connected some of them to the suspects involved.
