The directives also include the urgent rescue of all abducted victims following the attack, which reportedly targeted villagers in Niger State. Security sources say the assailants are suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara after a United States airstrike on Christmas Eve.
President Tinubu condemned the killings and the abduction of women and children, sending condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Niger State. “These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they will be hunted down. Those who aid or abet them will also be brought to justice,” he said.
The President assured citizens that security agencies have been instructed to intensify patrols in vulnerable areas, particularly communities near forested regions often used as hideouts by criminal groups. He called on Nigerians to remain united and resolute, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national security and cohesion.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people to confront these monsters. United, we can reclaim the peace and security of the affected communities,” President Tinubu added.
