Kwara APC Tells Saraki: Join State Party, Stop Hobnobbing With Abuja Leaders.
The Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Sunday Fagbemi, has called on former Senate President Bukola Saraki to formally defect to the APC in the state and align with the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, rather than maintaining informal ties with the party at the national level.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to party sources, Fagbemi made the remarks during an interview responding to claims by Prof. Abubabar Sulyman, Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), who alleged that Saraki was “hobnobbing” with APC leaders in Abuja.
Fagbemi described Saraki as self-serving, accusing him of a political style that had driven many of his loyalists out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with some joining the APC and others moving to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He stressed that the APC deliberately avoided giving prominence to the issue, characterizing it as politically insignificant.
The party chairman urged Saraki to demonstrate political courage by officially joining the APC in Kwara State under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, rather than maintaining ambiguous political relationships. He argued that Saraki no longer poses a political threat in the state, noting the APC’s victories over the PDP in two consecutive elections.
Fagbemi further criticized Saraki for lacking loyalty and integrity, alleging that the former Senate President’s political manoeuvring during his tenure as Senate President was driven by personal ambition. He claimed Saraki’s current engagement with APC leaders in Abuja reflects a struggle to maintain influence in the absence of access to state government resources.
Despite the pointed criticism, Fagbemi said the APC has no objection to Saraki’s political decisions but emphasized that he should formally defect to the party in Kwara State and operate transparently within its structures if he wishes to pursue his political strategy.
