According to Nivo News, the award-winning artiste made the disclosure while speaking on a recent episode of Echoo Room hosted by actor Teddy A, where he reflected on his childhood memories of the unrest.
Ice Prince explained that although he was still very young at the time, the events remain vivid in his memory due to the intensity of the conflict. He alleged that religious institutions were actively involved in the distribution of weapons, with both churches and mosques sharing guns as tensions spiralled out of control.
The rapper recalled that the streets of Jos were littered with disturbing scenes, including severed human body parts, as violence raged across the city. He described the situation as a full-scale war that left deep emotional scars on residents who witnessed the bloodshed.
According to him, despite the scale and brutality of the crisis, the events were largely underreported, with limited media coverage failing to capture the gravity of what residents endured at the time.
Ice Prince’s recollection has reignited conversations about the Jos crisis and the long-term impact of communal violence, as well as the need for honest documentation of such tragedies in Nigeria’s history.
