Through her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated, “We don’t see it as a threat. In fact, we are happy that he wants to contest. We are waiting for them.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan, a lawyer and former gubernatorial candidate, has represented Kogi Central in the Senate since 2023, becoming the first woman to hold the seat after a protracted legal process.

Bello reportedly announced his interest during a visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he engaged with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community figures. A video of the visit was later shared on his verified Facebook page. Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and other political leaders were also present, and attendees reportedly encouraged Bello to represent the district in the National Assembly in 2027.
