Armed bandits attacked commuters on Friday along the Danjibga–Kuncin Kalgo Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting all passengers and setting two vehicles on fire. Sources said the attackers seized the occupants of the vehicles before torching them. A local security monitoring platform confirmed the incident, highlighting the ongoing insecurity on major highways in the state.

The attack comes shortly after security forces carried out a clearance operation along the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road following an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast on December 27, which killed at least eight people.

Acting on directives from the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, joint teams of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts from the Police and Military combed the highway to ensure no additional explosives were planted. The operation was conducted under the joint security framework of Operation Fansa-Yamma, with armed personnel providing full coverage.

FRSC Raises Alarm Over Rising Route Violations On Abia Major Roads.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Command, has raised concern over the growing rate of route violations, warning motorists against driving against traffic on major roads across the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sector Commander, Corps Commander Ngozi Ezeoma, condemned the trend, saying some drivers deliberately flout traffic rules by claiming that official turning points are too far, thereby putting lives at risk.

She described driving against traffic as a serious offence that often leads to head-on collisions, avoidable crashes, loss of lives, and destruction of property.
