Kwankwaso Eyes ADC Alliance With Atiku, Obi As 2027 Battle Lines Emerge

Published

on

As political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to take shape, former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is reportedly considering a major political realignment that could see him join forces with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on the platform of the African Democratic Congress. According to Nivo News, the discussions are unfolding amid growing political uncertainty within Kwankwaso’s base in Kano State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Political insiders revealed that the move is being contemplated following the defection of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and most members of the state House of Assembly to the ruling All Progressives Congress. While Kwankwaso’s political structure in Kano is said to be gradually tilting towards the APC, the former governor is reportedly engaged in discreet negotiations with the ADC alongside loyal members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Sources familiar with the talks disclosed that opposition leaders are exploring the possibility of forming a broad coalition capable of presenting a united front against the APC in 2027. There are also strong indications that Governor Yusuf, who currently leads the only NNPP-controlled state, is preparing to officially defect to the APC, a development said to be strongly resisted by Kwankwaso and one that has further widened cracks within the Kwankwasiyya political family.

It was further gathered that top APC figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the party’s state chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, are expected to attend a brief ceremony in Abuja to formalise Yusuf’s defection.

Analysts believe that if negotiations among Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso materialise, the alliance could significantly reshape Nigeria’s opposition politics and dramatically alter the electoral dynamics ahead of 2027. The trio finished second, third and fourth respectively in the 2023 presidential election.

Despite the APC projecting confidence with 28 governors currently under its control, opposition figures are said to be quietly reorganising, banking on rising public discontent to recalibrate the balance of power. Peter Obi recently formalised his move to the ADC alongside his supporters, opposition leaders and several federal and state lawmakers, positioning the party as a growing force ahead of the next polls.

Obi’s defection has placed him among influential figures within the ADC, including David Mark, Aminu Tambuwal, Emeka Ihedioha, Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi and Abubakar Malami, all believed to be strategising to challenge the APC’s dominance in 2027. A senior ADC chieftain, Ladan Salihu, said Obi’s entry has reshaped the opposition landscape and strengthened the party’s chances.

Meanwhile, the APC further consolidated its influence following the defection of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to the ruling party. Reacting to the evolving political scenario, the Peoples Democratic Party said its immediate priority remains resolving internal leadership issues but acknowledged that opposition collaboration would be crucial to defeating the APC in the next general election.

MIDNIGHT ROBBERY: How ‘Yahoo Boys’ Defrauded A Judge Of ₦7.2 Million In A Single Night!.

Published

on

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede recently shared the story of how suspected internet fraudsters managed to steal over ₦7.2 million from a serving judge’s bank account overnight. The funds had been saved by the judge over a period of six years specifically for her child’s education.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The incident came to light during the public presentation of two books authored by retired High Court judge, Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye. According to Olukoyede, the judge contacted him at approximately 1 a.m. after being awakened by multiple debit alerts. Interestingly, this crime occurred in a state where a court order had previously restricted the EFCC from investigating certain financial crimes. When the chairman reminded the judge of this legal barrier, she insisted that his agency must intervene immediately, treating the situation as an exception.

The EFCC successfully tracked and recovered the full ₦7.2 million by the end of the business day. Olukoyede expressed his belief that this experience, having turned the judge into a victim, would likely influence her to dismiss any future applications aimed at hindering the commission’s mandate.

Highlighting the gravity of cybercrime, the EFCC chairman stressed that overcoming this challenge requires a unified effort from security agencies, the judiciary, and the general public. Additionally, Olukoyede noted that while the commission has begun utilizing artificial intelligence for criminal investigations, there is an urgent need for legal reforms to ensure that AI-generated evidence is admissible in court. During the same event, former Attorney-General Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN) called for anti-graft agencies to increase their efforts in recovering public funds that have been stolen and moved abroad.
