Tinubu’s Tough Reforms Begin To Yield Results, Oyebanji Tells Residents.

Oyebanji made the remarks in Ado Ekiti on Friday during an Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Service marking the first working day of 2026. He assured citizens that the governance of Ekiti State would continue without being disrupted by electioneering activities. The governor, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the June 20 governorship election, emphasized his readiness and that of his party to operate within democratic rules.
Reflecting on his tenure, Oyebanji expressed confidence that his achievements over the past three years would secure him and his party another term. He noted that while President Tinubu’s policies have been challenging initially, they are beginning to yield positive results. “A policy may be tough initially, it’s like a boil that will be more painful when it’s about to burst. These are necessary things we have to go through,” he said. “Now, the worst is over. The economy is rebounding, the Naira has stabilized, fuel prices are coming down, inflation is receding. We must encourage the President and pray for him. If he can achieve this in less than three years, imagine what can be done in eight.”
Oyebanji further stated that the government and citizens must continue to support Tinubu against forces resisting national prosperity. He declared 2026 a year of unlimited opportunities in Ekiti and urged public office holders to manage state resources efficiently to ensure that all residents benefit from government initiatives.
During the service, Revd Emmanuel Aribasoye, state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, urged Oyebanji to remain faithful to his covenant and continue serving with humility. Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Afenifere, the State Qareeb Missioner, advised political leaders to demonstrate gratitude, contentment, and compassion to the less privileged, reminding them that leadership is temporary and accountable before God.
Dignitaries present included Deputy Governor Mrs. Monisade Afuye, First Lady Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, Chief Judge Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye, and other political, traditional, and religious leaders.
