Rivers PDP Accuses Governor Fubara Of Betraying Party, Taking Their Mandate To APC.
According to Nivo News, the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of betraying the party by defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
At a news conference on Thursday in Port Harcourt, PDP factional Caretaker Chairman Nname Ewor alleged that Fubara abandoned the party amid a political crisis, violating prior agreements he reached with President Bola Tinubu. Ewor claimed that as part of a peace pact mediated by the President, Fubara had agreed not to seek another term in office, to reinstate Chief Ohna Awuse as Chairman of the Rivers Traditional Rulers Council, and to remove Tammy Danagogo as Secretary to the State Government and Edison Ehie as Chief of Staff.
Ewor further stated that Fubara failed to uphold the terms of the agreements, leading to the collapse of the peace accord and the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers. According to him, subsequent negotiations with Tinubu preceded Fubara’s eventual defection to the APC. Ewor also alleged that following the defection, Fubara boasted that Tinubu would compel the State House of Assembly to approve the 2026 budget.
“The mandate Fubara holds was entrusted to him by the people of Rivers, and all his actions impact those whose mandate he carries,” Ewor said, calling on the governor to disclose the details of his agreements with Tinubu to enable citizens to make informed decisions. He added that the PDP had previously challenged the emergency declaration in the Supreme Court to protect its mandate.
Ewor accused Fubara of misleading party members into attending the PDP convention in Ibadan, while he himself remained absent, a matter currently under litigation. He concluded by reaffirming his alignment with calls from former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to support the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
