According to Nivo News, stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State have urged Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to set aside personal differences, promote party unity, and reaffirm their allegiance to the PDP National Leader, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The call was made on Thursday during a press briefing in Maiduguri, where the Chairman of the stakeholders, Grema Kyari, lauded Wike for his unwavering commitment to discipline, constitutionalism, and institutional integrity within the party. Kyari, a member of the PDP National Working Caretaker Committee, also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting the Ibadan convention outcome that produced Barrister Kabiru Turaki as National Chairman, describing the action as legally sound and essential for safeguarding internal democracy.

The group praised the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Caretaker Committee for dissolving the Borno State PDP Executive Committee and establishing a Borno State PDP Working Caretaker Committee, calling the move bold, timely, and lawful, noting that it restored confidence among party members. Kyari emphasized that Wike’s role in stabilizing the party was critical, particularly amid pressures from certain party leaders, including governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde, who were backed by Turaki, which he said had exacerbated internal divisions.

The stakeholders urged all party leaders to prioritize the PDP’s interests over personal ambitions and to work toward reconciliation ahead of future political contests. They emphasized that realigning loyalty to Wike and adhering to party rules would strengthen the PDP’s prospects for electoral success nationwide.

WAGE WAR! NLC and Federal Government Set To Clash Again As Inflation Forces New Minimum Wage Talks!.

on

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has indicated that new negotiations regarding the national minimum wage may commence shortly to address the impact of soaring inflation and economic hardship. This potential development follows the implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage approximately two years ago.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Status of Negotiations: While formal talks have not yet begun, NLC spokesperson Benson Upah stated that organized labor expects them to start at any moment.

  • Government Stance: Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, acknowledged the need for further discussions, noting that persistent inflation has significantly diminished the value of the existing minimum wage.

  • Wider Welfare Approach: Gbajabiamila suggested that evaluating workers’ welfare should extend beyond just salary adjustments to include social supports like affordable housing, education, transportation, and healthcare.

  • Context of Past Agreements: The 2024 wage review resulted in a ₦70,000 minimum wage after months of intense negotiations where labor initially sought ₦615,000 due to economic factors like the naira’s float and petrol subsidy removal.

  • Ongoing Concerns: Despite the previous settlement, NLC President Joe Ajaero has maintained that workers require a “living wage” that accurately reflects current economic conditions, as costs for food, electricity, rent, and transportation continue to increase.

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, has arrived back in Nigeria following an overseas trip. His return was confirmed by former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie in a social media post on Saturday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In addition to his return, Atiku addressed ongoing legal challenges involving the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Key points from his reaction include:

  • Atiku alleged that efforts to judicially deregister the NDC demonstrate President Bola Tinubu’s “desperate determination” to establish a one-party state in Nigeria.

  • He claimed that the President is fearful of a free and fair election in 2027 and that these actions contradict the democratic aspirations of the Nigerian people.

  • The legal situation follows a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, Kogi State, where Justice Isah Dashen set aside a previous judgment that had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC.

  • The court ruled that the December 10, 2025, judgment was flawed because the Peace Movement Party (PMP) was not included as a necessary party to the suit.

  • In a statement released by his media office, Atiku warned that attempts to undermine opposition parties could lead to chaos and anarchy, emphasizing that free and fair elections are the “soul of democracy”.

  • Reversal of Previous Judgment: A Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi state, set aside its own earlier judgment that had previously ordered INEC to register the NDC as a political party.

  • Inclusion of Interested Parties: The ruling resulted from an application by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which argued it should have been included in the initial case.

  • Requirement for New Proceedings: Judge Dashen ordered that the substantive suit be restarted, requiring INEC, the PMP, and the NDC to all be joined as parties to the case.

  • INEC’s Current Position: Although INEC is aware of the ruling made on Friday, the commission stated it cannot comment or take action until it receives and reviews the certified true copy of the judgment.
