According to Nivo News, a Kano State High Court has affirmed the appointment of Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya as the Acting State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, effectively validating the leadership change within the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In the ruling, the court upheld the suspension of the former state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, and expressly restrained him from interfering in the affairs of the party pending the final determination of the substantive suit before the court. The judge further directed all parties involved to maintain the status quo and barred Dungurawa from presenting himself as the NNPP chairman or engaging in any actions capable of disrupting the party’s activities in the state.

The court emphasized that Dungurawa must completely refrain from involvement in the administration of the party until the matter is fully heard and resolved. It subsequently fixed January 19 for the hearing of the suit filed by the NNPP Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee, which is challenging Dungurawa’s continued claim to the chairmanship position following his suspension by the party’s state executive committee.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Executive Committee of the NNPP, at an emergency meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Kano, formally ratified Abiya’s appointment as Acting State Chairman. Party leaders said the decision followed Dungurawa’s removal and was taken to preserve stability and ensure seamless administration within the party.

The leadership dispute has continued to attract attention due to Dungurawa’s reported political alignment with the NNPP’s national leader and former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Observers believe the court’s intervention may help ease tensions within the party as members await the substantive hearing and final verdict on the matter.
