Imo in Crisis: Amadi Blasts Uzodinma’s Government Over Poverty, Insecurity, And Mismanagement.
According to Nivo News, Imo politician Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi has criticized Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration, accusing it of prioritizing propaganda and deceit over effective governance. Amadi made the remarks while formally registering as a member of the Action People’s Party (APP) at Community Primary School, Umuekwenne, in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area. Amadi expressed concern over what he described as years of mismanagement and neglect, saying the state is now plagued by a lack of direction, insecurity, and widespread poverty. “Imo now grapples with a lack of direction, where governance feels like a distant rumor and leadership is reduced to superficial billboards,” he said, urging residents to recognize that these conditions result from failed policies rather than their true identity.
He condemned the normalization of deceitful governance, noting that citizens are inundated with slogans and signboards while tangible improvements remain scarce. Amadi warned that the disconnect between rhetoric and reality has eroded public trust and left ordinary residents questioning the impact of government programs on their daily lives.
Highlighting the security crisis, he described daily life in Imo as dominated by fear, with businesses closing early, families living under constant vigilance, and communities enduring sleepless nights. On the economic front, Amadi decried extreme poverty, stating that many traders, artisans, graduates, and youths are forced into migration or risky ventures, while parents struggle to meet basic needs.
Amadi also criticized the state government for rewarding loyalty over competence, enriching a select few while leaving the majority to suffer. He called for a shift toward a transparent and accountable administration, urging Imo residents to join the APP, which he described as “a fresh, unbought platform untainted by political merchants.”
