The governor, who clocked 55 on Wednesday, December 31, chose to celebrate the milestone by reaching out to children in orphanage homes and patients receiving treatment in public health facilities. As part of the exercise, the foundation visited seven orphanages and eight major government hospitals to distribute food items and financial assistance.

During the visits, the foundation’s Executive Director, Mallam Ibrahim Dan-Halilu, presented food supplies valued at several millions of naira to the orphanage homes. The donated items included 50-kilogramme bags of rice, spaghetti, cooking oil, seasoning cubes, toiletries, pomade and soap, as well as sanitary pads and blankets to help shield the children from the Harmattan cold.

Beneficiary orphanages included Umm Aytam Orphanage and Women Home in Unguwan Dosa, Al-Ihsan Orphanage in Nassarawa, Adonai Children and Widows Home in Kakuri, Naphtali Orphanage in Gonin Gora, among others. The foundation also extended its support to patients at public hospitals such as Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Yusuf Dantsoho General Hospital in Tudun Wada, Gwamna Awan General Hospital in Makera-Kakuri, General Hospital Kawo, and Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Kofar Gayan, Zaria.

According to the organisers, cash donations were distributed to more than 200 patients to assist them in purchasing prescribed medications and settling laboratory test bills. Explaining the gesture, Dan-Halilu said the outreach was designed to use the governor’s birthday as an opportunity to remember the less privileged and help them approach the New Year with renewed hope and encouragement.

He further called on well-meaning Nigerians to support vulnerable members of society, urging them to emulate the governor’s long-standing commitment to assisting the needy even before assuming office. Beneficiaries of the donations expressed appreciation, offering prayers for the governor’s continued good health, longevity and sustained service to humanity.

Established in 2018, the Uba Sani Foundation focuses on healthcare, education and empowerment, having awarded scholarships to over 2,000 indigent students, provided vocational training for more than 5,000 women and youths, and delivered medical assistance, including surgeries, to over 10,000 people.

Deregistration Drama: Courtroom Showdown Over ADC And Accord Party Hits A New Delay!.

Published

  • Case Adjournment: The Court of Appeal in Abuja has postponed the hearing of an appeal regarding the potential deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, and three other political parties until July 7.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

    • Procedural Delay: The court moved the hearing date from June 25 to allow the involved parties sufficient time to file and exchange their briefs of argument.

    • Reasoning for New Date: Although Accord Party counsel, Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), requested a three-day window to file, Justice Abubakar Mohammed explained that the panel’s upcoming official commitments necessitated selecting July 7 as the earliest available date.

    • Background of the Dispute: The appeal follows a Federal High Court ruling by Justice Peter Lifu, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC, Accord Party, Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for allegedly failing to meet constitutional performance benchmarks.

    • INEC’s Position: INEC has challenged this deregistration order, arguing that these parties met the necessary constitutional thresholds by securing elective positions in previous elections and providing certificates of return as evidence.

    • Stay of Execution: On June 16, the Court of Appeal previously ordered a stay of execution on the Federal High Court’s judgment, preventing INEC from proceeding with the deregistration until the current appeal is decided.

    • Procedural Criticism: The appellate court had previously criticized Justice Lifu for ignoring an earlier order to suspend proceedings, noting that such an action undermined the established hierarchy of the courts.

    • Origin of the Suit: The original legal challenge was filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, who argued that these specific parties failed to meet the electoral performance standards required by the 1999 Constitution and the 2022 Electoral Act.
