According to Nivo News, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have foiled a potential terrorist attack in Borno State by arresting a suspected suicide bomber and seizing materials intended for the manufacture of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East, disclosed that Mustapha was found in possession of primed IED components, indicating an imminent threat to civilians. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect also had additional materials linked to terrorist activities and hailed from Bama LGA. He is currently undergoing intensive interrogation to identify his sponsors, collaborators, and potential connections to terrorist networks operating in the region.

The military assured residents that troops of JTF NE Operation Hadin Kai remain on high alert, maintaining aggressive patrols, intelligence-led operations, and a sustained presence across the area to prevent attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure. Lt. Col. Uba also urged the public to provide timely and credible intelligence to support counter-terrorism efforts.

The arrest follows a deadly suicide bombing at Al-Adum Jumaat Mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, on December 24, which left five worshippers dead and 35 others injured, heightening concerns of renewed terrorist activities in the state. The military reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across the North-East while maintaining high troop morale and operational efficiency.
