Kebbi Authorities Debunk Bomb And Helicopter Claims In Hospital Explosion.
The Kebbi State Government and the State Police Command have dismissed reports suggesting that a bomb or helicopter attack caused the recent explosion at Bagudo General Hospital in Bagudo Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In statements released on Tuesday, both authorities clarified that the incident was the result of a fire involving gas cylinders, not an explosive device. Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, explained that preliminary investigations by security agencies indicated the explosion originated in the hospital staff quarters due to a gas-induced fire. “The explosion was not caused by any bomb or aerial assault. It was a fire incident involving gas cylinders,” Bala-Tafida said.
He further noted that no casualties were recorded, as residents had evacuated the affected building prior to the explosion. Bala-Tafida commended the rapid response of the Police Command and other security operatives for securing the area and ensuring public safety.
The Kebbi State Police Command, through Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman, corroborated that the explosion stemmed from an inferno involving overheated air-conditioning and refrigerator gas cylinders. A tactical team, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) experts, conducted an on-site assessment and confirmed that no explosives or helicopter activity were involved.
Usman urged the public and media outlets to avoid circulating unverified reports that could incite panic. “We urge the public to remain calm and disregard misinformation suggesting a bomb blast or helicopter strike,” he added.
