“Your Problem Is Tinubu Didn’t Give You A Ministerial Slot” – Wike Slams Makinde.

According to Nivo News, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has attributed Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent criticisms to his disappointment over not receiving a ministerial position from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Wike made the remarks on Monday while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He explained that the G-5 group, which included himself, along with former governors Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, had previously discussed the matter with President Tinubu, who acknowledged the issue and promised to take action.

Owerri Residents Express Concern Over Delayed Control Post Flyover Construction Residents of Owerri, the bustling capital of Imo State, have voiced their frustration over the sluggish pace of construction at the control post flyover project, urging both the State Government and the construction company to expedite the process. The ongoing construction work at the control post, a critical artery linking the city to neighboring areas, has caused significant disruption to daily commuting, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes. The blockage of this key road has not only created severe traffic congestion but also hindered access to alternative routes, leaving commuters grappling with prolonged travel times and logistical challenges. Christian Chukwuemeka, a commercial driver, bemoaned the drastic increase in travel time from nearby cities like Port Harcourt and Onitsha to Owerri. He emphasized the urgent need for accelerated construction efforts to alleviate the burden on motorists and restore efficient transportation routes. Elder Patrick Ejikeme, a retired civil servant from the Ministry of Works, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the potential benefits of the flyover project in easing traffic congestion upon completion. However, he expressed concern over the slow progress of work at the construction site, urging the construction company to demonstrate greater dedication to expedite the project. Businesses operating in the vicinity of the construction site have also been adversely affected, experiencing a decline in patronage due to restricted access and diminished foot traffic. Filling stations and shops alike have joined the chorus of voices calling for swifter completion of the project to restore normalcy and stimulate economic activity in the area. Furthermore, travelers have been inconvenienced by the road closure, resorting to lengthy walks to reach alternative transportation hubs, compounding the challenges faced by residents and commuters alike. As the construction delays persist, residents emphasize the pressing need for collaborative action between the government and the construction company to prioritize the timely completion of the control post flyover, thereby mitigating the adverse impact on livelihoods and facilitating smoother traffic flow in Owerri.

“When we addressed this, Seyi’s frustration was evident because he did not get a ministerial slot. Even while expressing his concerns, his anger was noticeable. We advised him to calm down,” Wike stated.

He added that the Rivers Ijaw people had organized a reception for him in Port Harcourt, during which Ortom expressed support for the president’s second term. According to Wike, Makinde publicly reacted through the media instead of engaging in internal dialogue, which Wike said gave the impression of division within the group.

Wike further suggested that Makinde’s early financial success—claiming to have earned $1 million as a young man—continues to influence his reactions. “Sometimes, having made that $1 million early in life, he responds emotionally. He recalls that figure and forgets that others, like Dangote, have gone on to achieve far greater success,” Wike said.
