He stated that if Governor Otti was genuinely aligned with President Bola Tinubu, he should formally declare his membership of the ruling party rather than remain undecided.

The Deputy Speaker noted that he had not yet announced any intention to contest the Abia State governorship in 2027, explaining that he was still consulting widely, engaging with the national leadership of the APC and awaiting further direction.

Emphasising his position, Kalu reiterated that the APC would readily support Governor Otti should he defect to the party, but insisted that backing the President from outside the ruling party was unrealistic. He maintained that President Tinubu would not abandon the APC to support a non-member.

Kalu also alleged that he had become a target of daily attacks by hired social media operatives within the state, claiming that his empowerment initiatives and grassroots engagements were being deliberately misrepresented as signs of a governorship ambition.

He further disclosed that the strengthening of APC grassroots structures across Abia State was aimed at delivering overwhelming support for President Tinubu and securing electoral success for the party in future elections.
