Sheikh Gumi Tells Nigeria To Halt US Military Cooperation Immediately.

Published

on

According to Nivo News, Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has urged the Federal Government to immediately suspend all military cooperation with the United States following reports of recent US airstrikes in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday, Gumi warned that foreign involvement in Nigeria’s counterterrorism operations could exacerbate security challenges and undermine the nation’s sovereignty. While acknowledging that Islam permits combating terrorism, he argued that such efforts should only be carried out by parties with “clean hands,” adding that the United States lacks the moral authority to lead such operations due to its global military record.

The cleric criticised Nigeria for allowing foreign powers to participate in its anti-terror campaigns, insisting that “terrorists do not truly fight terrorists” and that such interventions often result in civilian casualties and conceal political motives. He cautioned that turning Nigeria into a theatre of war could attract anti-US forces and further destabilise the country.

Gumi also warned that American involvement, particularly under claims of protecting Christians, could heighten religious tensions and polarise the nation. He stressed that airstrikes alone are insufficient to defeat terrorism, noting that effective counterterrorism requires well-organised ground operations, which he said Nigeria possesses the personnel to carry out.

The cleric suggested that if Nigeria seeks international military assistance, countries such as China, Turkey, and Pakistan could provide more effective and reliable support. He concluded by emphasising that no nation should allow its territory to become a battleground or perceive neighbouring countries as enemies.

Air Peace Breaks Silence On Gatwick–Lagos Disruption, Denies Abandoning Passengers.

Published

on

Nigeria’s leading carrier, Air Peace Limited, has reacted to the disruption of its London Gatwick–Lagos flight service on May 1, 2026, explaining the circumstances surrounding the incident.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement posted on , the airline insisted that no passenger was abandoned and maintained that its actions were guided strictly by safety procedures.

The management said a viral social media video claiming passengers were left stranded without support or communication “does not accurately represent the full situation surrounding the disruption.”

According to Air Peace, the flight was impacted by a bird strike, which it described as a recognised force majeure occurrence in aviation that required the aircraft to be grounded immediately for safety inspections.

“The affected flight experienced a bird strike necessitating the immediate grounding of the aircraft for comprehensive safety inspections in line with global aviation standards,” the statement read, adding that “safety is not negotiable, and under no circumstance would we operate an aircraft without the required safety clearance.”

The airline said passengers were promptly informed of the incident and the cancellation of the flight, and that arrangements were made for their welfare, including hotel accommodation at the Hilton London Gatwick.

However, it acknowledged that certain operational challenges affected passenger handling, especially in relation to baggage retrieval.

“We encountered additional operational constraints, including airport congestion and delays from ground handling services responsible for baggage retrieval,” it stated.

Air Peace clarified that baggage handling at international airports is managed by third-party ground handling companies and is not directly controlled by the airline.

“Baggage handling at international airports is managed by designated ground handling companies and as such, Air Peace does not exercise direct control over these processes,” it added.

The airline strongly denied allegations that passengers were abandoned, insisting that communication was maintained throughout the disruption.

“At no point were passengers abandoned. Communication was maintained with all affected passengers, and every effort was made to ensure their welfare,” it said, noting that accommodation was provided while arrangements were underway to deploy another aircraft.

Air Peace also criticised the backlash it has received, describing it as excessive and unjustified given the safety-related nature of the incident.

“We find the ongoing negative hounding of our airline over a safety-driven, force majeure incident to be shocking and unwarranted,” it stated, while noting that the flight captain kept passengers updated throughout the process.

While acknowledging the inconvenience caused, the airline urged for understanding, stressing that aviation operations are complex and cannot be treated as instant processes.

“We recognise that aviation disruptions can be distressing; however, aviation operations are not ‘plug and play’,” it said, noting the involvement of multiple stakeholders and strict safety regulations.

Reaffirming its commitment, Air Peace said it remains dedicated to passenger safety, comfort, and welfare, adding that it will continue to improve its processes to better handle unexpected disruptions.

He claimed Carter Efe was unprofessional and accused the organisers of failing to properly count his punches during the match.

Portable said, “I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches, why didn’t you people count them? Any blow that I threw to him ought to count even if it meets him on the shoulder or hand. And to the organisers, I want my stream money amounting to about ₦200 million. Just give me my money before I cause trouble.

“They did ojoro for me. All of you are mad. Carter Efe was just holding my neck. I was punching him too but you people are not talking about that. They knew he is tall and has long hands but still put him in a boxing match with me.”

Despite his complaints, Portable said the loss did not matter to him, adding that the birth of his child was more important than any boxing title.

He said, “You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. You people cheated. They can’t pay the money amounting to the sum of N23 billion. I thought I was going to dance with my belt but I ended up with my new baby.

“My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt but not my child.”

Carter Efe Claims Victory By Unanimous Decision

Portable’s reaction followed Carter Efe’s unanimous decision victory at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall in Lagos.

All three judges scored the bout 27–30 in favour of Carter Efe, bringing Portable’s celebrity boxing run to an end.

Before the fight, Portable had confidently predicted victory, saying he would claim his third belt after previous wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.

“I will use you to collect my third belt,” he had boasted. “Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you, and I beat them. I will beat you now.”

However, Carter Efe dismissed the challenge ahead of the fight, responding, “One punch and you fall.”

During the match, Carter Efe used his height and reach advantage to dominate the three-round contest, landing cleaner shots and controlling the tempo throughout.
