According to Nivo News, the Senator representing Rivers East, Allwell Onyesoh, has openly declared his intention to persuade the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and align with the All Progressives Congress.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Onyesoh, who recently defected to the APC, made the declaration in a video shared on social media, where he stated that he and his associates were determined to ensure that Wike is not sidelined or frustrated within the PDP. He argued that the former Rivers State governor has contributed immensely to the party but has not received due recognition for his efforts.

The lawmaker said Wike remains his political leader and insisted that he would not allow what he described as internal forces within the PDP to undermine or overburden the minister. He stressed that his move into the APC was driven by his personal aspirations to serve his constituents, a goal he said Wike helped him achieve.

Onyesoh further stated that efforts would be made to pressure Wike into leaving the PDP, insisting that the minister belongs with those who appreciate his political contributions. He added that Wike had played a key role in shaping their political journeys and should therefore join them in their new political home.

The Rivers senator also took a swipe at the PDP, describing the party as weakened and struggling for relevance. He expressed doubt about the party’s ability to recover, claiming that internal conflicts and leadership struggles had left it in a state of decline with no clear path to revival.

Political Drama In Osun As Basiru Tells APC Loyalists To Work With Adeleke Despite Party Crisis.

Published

on

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has reportedly instructed members of his political group, the Alubarika Group, to collaborate with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke under the new political arrangement in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, Basiru gave the directive during a meeting with members of the group in Osogbo on Thursday.

A member of the group, who spoke to Leadership, disclosed that the APC national secretary urged them to work with Adeleke, citing the governor’s electoral influence and his appointment as coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Osun State.

The source said, “Our leader (Basiru) said we should work with the governor. His position was the position of all of us because the governor is also the coordinator of the President’s re-election campaign in the state.”

Meanwhile, Adeleke’s inauguration of a 344-member Tinubu campaign council on Thursday has exposed divisions within the APC’s Osun State chapter.

Several prominent party figures were absent from the event, including the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the party’s 2026 governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Others who did not attend were the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal; former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye; and the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Oluwole Oke.

Hours before the inauguration, the state APC had complained that Governor Adeleke’s camp failed to consult the party adequately, describing the arrangement as an attempt to create divisions within its ranks.

Despite the disagreement, several prominent APC leaders attended the event, including former Osun State Governor Chief Bisi Akande, Basiru and former APC National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Speaking at the gathering, Akande argued that the party had lacked direction until Adeleke assumed responsibility for coordinating the President’s re-election campaign in the state.

Basiru, who described himself as the most senior political officeholder in southern Nigeria by virtue of his position, called on party members to set aside their differences and support the governor.

He maintained that Tinubu’s decision to appoint Adeleke as campaign coordinator should take precedence over personal interests and political ambitions.

Basiru said, “It is in President Tinubu’s wisdom that he chose Governor Adeleke as his campaign coordinator in Osun. For us in Osun State, irrespective of our feelings, ambitions, or scheming, we must abide by President Bola Tinubu’s vision and support Governor Ademola Adeleke to succeed in this exercise.”

He added, “There is no ambition or ego that is greater than ensuring President Bola Tinubu is re-elected. We must support the President to succeed for a second term.”

The political realignment comes against the backdrop of Tinubu’s defeat in Osun State during the 2023 presidential election.

At the time, Atiku Abubakar, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 354,366 votes, while Tinubu received 343,945 votes.

2027: Presidency Fires Back At Opposition, Lists Tinubu’s Investments In Nigeria.

Published

on

The Presidency has highlighted planned and ongoing investments involving major international companies, including JPMorgan, Shell, ExxonMobil and Siemens Energy, to counter claims that President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms have discouraged investors from doing business in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, listed 19 investments and projects spanning several sectors in a post on X on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in response to criticism of the administration’s economic policies.

According to reports, the projects cover banking and finance, oil and gas, electricity, mining, manufacturing, telecommunications, data centres, ports and logistics.

Onanuga accused opposition figures of refusing to recognise what he described as the progress Nigeria had made since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

In his post, the presidential aide criticised those who claimed the President’s policies were driving investors away, arguing that their position ignored developments taking place across the country.

He wrote, “Read how President Tinubu is scaring away investors, according to the hirelings of the opposition, who have become deniers of massive national progress.

“They and their masters refuse to acknowledge what the whole world can see. To them, Tinubu has made Nigeria worse since May 2023. Fela Anikulapo Kuti aptly called them opposite people.”

Banking and Finance

In the financial sector, Onanuga highlighted JPMorgan’s efforts to obtain a merchant banking licence in Nigeria, Absa’s consideration of expanding its operations and Standard Bank Group’s proposed investment in fintech firm OPay.

JPMorgan reportedly deposited ₦50 billion with the Central Bank of Nigeria as part of the regulatory process for its proposed merchant banking licence. The bank is targeting approval by the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Meanwhile, Absa is considering transforming its Nigerian representative office into a merchant bank, while Standard Bank Group has signed an agreement to invest up to $200 million in OPay.

The proposed OPay investment is expected to be completed around the fintech company’s planned initial public offering, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

Oil and Gas Industry

In the oil and gas sector, the presidential aide referenced projects and investment plans involving TotalEnergies, AMNI, ExxonMobil and Shell.

TotalEnergies and AMNI announced a final investment decision on the Ima gas project in September 2026. The development is expected to produce 350 million cubic feet of gas daily from 2028.

Onanuga also cited ExxonMobil’s commitment to invest $1.5 billion in deepwater fields between 2025 and 2027, alongside a potential investment of $7 billion to $8 billion in the Owowo development.

Shell’s proposed Bonga South West project, estimated to cost $20 billion, was also included in the list, with a final investment decision targeted for 2027.

However, the projects are at different stages, with some involving announced investment commitments and others still awaiting final investment decisions.

Power, Mining and Manufacturing

In the electricity sector, Onanuga highlighted the $2.3 billion Presidential Power Initiative involving Siemens Energy.

One of the projects under the initiative is a 480-megawatt substation in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

In mining and industrial development, he cited a $250 million lithium-processing plant in Nasarawa State developed by Chinese companies Jiuling and Canmax. The facility was reported to have opened in July 2026.

The list also featured Indorama Fertiliser III, a $265 million fertiliser plant completed by Daewoo E&C, as well as a proposed solar-powered steel plant by African Industries Group in Niger State.

Another project involved a memorandum of understanding signed by 3TREES for an initial investment of $100 million.

Telecommunications and Technology

The telecommunications and technology sector also featured prominently in the Presidency’s list, with projects involving MTN, Airtel, Starlink, Equinix and Amazon Leo.

MTN launched the first phase of its Dabengwa data centre in July 2025, while Airtel is planning to invest $120 million in a 38-megawatt data centre at Eko Atlantic in Lagos.

Equinix’s LG3 data centre, valued at $22 million, was scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, although its opening was not confirmed in the information provided.

Onanuga also referenced figures indicating that Starlink had 98,642 subscribers in Nigeria in the second quarter of 2026, making it the country’s second-largest internet service provider according to the figures cited.

Amazon Leo was also included following reports that it had obtained an operating licence to introduce its services in Nigeria.

Ports and Logistics

In the maritime and logistics sector, Onanuga highlighted APM Terminals’ $600 million investment pledge announced in May 2026.

He also referenced preliminary agreements signed by DP World in October 2026 concerning the proposed Ogun Deep Sea Port and a special economic zone.

Additionally, the list included a $200 million partnership involving Abu Dhabi Ports and the Lekki corridor, which was announced in May 2025.

The Presidency’s compilation was presented as evidence that Nigeria continues to attract investor interest under Tinubu’s administration, despite criticism of its economic reforms. However, the projects vary in scale and status, with some already operational and others still at the planning or investment-decision stage.
