Knockout Shock: Drake Suffers ₦296 Million Loss Backing Jake Paul Against AJ.
Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly suffered a ₦296 million loss after placing a bet on Jake Paul to defeat former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in their highly publicised boxing showdown in Miami.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The bout, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, December 21, saw Anthony Joshua dominate the contest from the opening bell. The seasoned heavyweight displayed superior technique and control, ultimately sealing victory with a knockout in the sixth round.
Joshua’s experience proved decisive as he dropped Paul twice in the fifth round, using sharp combinations and ring intelligence to overwhelm his opponent. He maintained the pressure in the following round, landing a series of heavy blows that prompted the referee to stop the fight when Paul failed to recover.
Ahead of the clash, Drake had openly disclosed on Instagram that he staked $200,000 on Jake Paul, expressing confidence in the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s chances. In his post, the rapper urged Paul on, writing, “Jakeyyyyy boy, lock tf in.”
Had Paul pulled off the upset, Drake was expected to pocket over $1.6 million, an amount estimated at more than ₦2 billion. However, Joshua’s emphatic victory ensured the wager ended in another loss for the Canadian star, further extending his string of unsuccessful sports bets.
Earlier this year, Drake was also reported to have lost ₦451 million after backing Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner at the US Open.
