A video circulating online showed the legislator being slapped and roughly handled by a mob, while security operatives struggled to protect him from the crowd. The lawmaker was seen being pulled in different directions as security personnel attempted to restore order.

During the confrontation, the crowd repeatedly chanted “bamayi,” a Hausa expression commonly used to signal rejection or disapproval, underscoring their anger toward the representative.

Community members alleged that the lawmaker had failed to respond to repeated calls for development projects, empowerment initiatives and regular constituency visits, claims they said fueled the violent outburst.
