APC Loyalists Vow To Speak Truth To Power Ahead Of 2027 Elections.
A member of the House of Representatives from Kano State and leader of the Northern caucus, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has affirmed that supporters of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari will continue to hold the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) accountable as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the public presentation of the book Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration, authored by former Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, Doguwa said Buhari’s supporters would continue to highlight areas for improvement within the party to avoid potential electoral backlash. “We will continue to tell the government and those in power the right thing to do for the people, so that when election time comes, we will not have uncomfortable questions to answer at the polls,” he stated.
Doguwa emphasized that Buhari remained a committed APC member until his death, describing his unwavering loyalty as a guiding principle for his followers, particularly in Northern Nigeria. He said Buhari’s loyalists within government would work to uphold the former president’s legacy of service to ordinary citizens, especially the poor and vulnerable.
The lawmaker also highlighted the continued political unity of Northern Nigeria and noted the pivotal roles of religious and traditional leaders in mobilizing citizens for meaningful participation in governance.
The book launch drew several notable political and traditional figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former APC National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris, former Chief of Staff to Buhari Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, former National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno (retd.), and former presidential spokesman Segun Adeniyi. Traditional leaders in attendance included the Emir of Argungu and representatives of the Sultan of Sokoto and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
