He made the call in a statement on Tuesday while reacting to comments credited to Gbajabiamila, who had urged a lawmaker, Leke Abejide, to remain in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and destabilise the party.

Speaking at a birthday event for Abejide’s wife, Gbajabiamila was quoted as encouraging the lawmaker to stay in the ADC and continue his political activities within the party.

In response, Frank described the statement as troubling, warning that such remarks could have negative implications for Nigeria’s democratic system. He also called for the Chief of Staff to step down from his position.

He argued that statements of that nature raise concerns about the commitment of the current administration to democratic principles, including the independence of political institutions and the judiciary.

Frank further cautioned that any suggestion of influencing opposition parties or judicial processes could weaken public trust in governance.

He also linked the remarks to broader allegations of interference in opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to him, comments made by a top government official could reflect the stance of the presidency and signal attempts to weaken political opposition.

Frank additionally urged U.S. authorities to look into Gbajabiamila’s activities, including his financial dealings, stressing the need for accountability and transparency.

He maintained that public officials must act with restraint and uphold the rule of law to protect democratic institutions.

The ranking, released on April 21, reflects a slight improvement from their previous 37th position in December 2025.

The movement follows the team’s performances in two pre-WAFCON friendly matches against Cameroon, where they lost 1-0 in February before bouncing back with a 3-1 victory in March.

After the initial defeat, the nine-time African champions responded strongly in the return fixture. Chinwendu Ihezuo equalised in the 32nd minute with a header from a well-delivered cross by Rinsola Babajide.

Babajide then put Nigeria ahead just before halftime, finishing from close range after a goalmouth scramble. Michelle Alozie later sealed the win in the 64th minute with a header from a cross by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

The victory added 3.35 points to Nigeria’s tally, bringing them to 1602 points in April, though still slightly below their December 2025 total of 1607.

Within Africa, the Super Falcons remain ahead of South Africa, Ghana, and Morocco, who are ranked 58th, 59th, and 62nd globally.

On the global stage, Spain continues to lead the rankings, followed by the United States, England, Germany, and Japan.
