In a statement released on Sunday through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke dismissed the hopes of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and Oyebamiji as “wishful thinking” and “a failure to recognize the deep unpopularity of the APC among Osun residents.” He described Oyetola’s tenure as an “anti-people era” in the state’s history and criticized the administration for leaving Osun in economic distress when he assumed office in 2022, labeling the period a “dark chapter in the socio-political history” of the state.

Adeleke accused Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and Oyebamiji of contributing to the mismanagement that resulted in unpaid or partial salaries, mounting debts, and poor public service delivery. He asserted that his administration has since reversed these setbacks, restoring stability and prioritizing workers’ welfare, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and inclusive development.

The Governor also criticized the APC for allegedly resorting to anti-democratic tactics, questioning why a party confident in its popular support would shy away from facing voters in a free and fair election. He emphasized that Osun citizens now enjoy responsive governance and have no desire to return to the hardships of the past 12 years under the APC.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, including recognition through awards such as the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge for the South West, Adeleke stressed that the people’s trust in his government is strong and that voters are determined to defend the gains of good governance. He urged residents to focus on development rather than political propaganda and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a people-centered approach as the August 2026 election approaches.
