The Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Sani Dambam, stated that the revised salary structure would be complemented by special allowances for personnel posted outside local government headquarters, aimed at improving healthcare delivery in underserved communities. He also confirmed the approval of outstanding promotions for over 2,000 healthcare workers in the state.

Dr. Dambam explained that the salary review followed recommendations from a special committee tasked with assessing the financial implications of a revised service scheme for health workers. He described the new package as one of the most significant welfare improvements in Bauchi’s health sector, designed to retain skilled personnel, boost morale, and strengthen service delivery, particularly in rural areas.

The commissioner added that allowances for outside postings would encourage doctors and other healthcare workers to accept assignments in non-metropolitan areas. Staff under the State Primary Healthcare Development Board would also benefit, addressing long-standing disparities in welfare benefits across the sector.

In addition, the council approved access to car and housing loans for doctors and health workers to alleviate financial burdens and improve quality of life. Biometric and verification systems will also be introduced across health facilities to enhance accountability and efficiency.
