The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, had no official details disclosed as of the time of filing this report. However, party insiders believe the visit is linked to recent political developments and internal challenges currently facing the main opposition party.

The engagement comes amid sustained consultations and internal deliberations within the PDP as leaders seek pathways to address issues affecting the party’s stability and unity.

Turaki was accompanied by several influential party figures, including former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu; former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang; and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja, alongside other senior members of the party.

Obasanjo, a former President of Nigeria and respected elder statesman within the PDP, remains a central figure in the party’s affairs. Meetings at his Abeokuta residence often attract national attention, particularly during periods of heightened political tension within the party.

In a related development earlier, Turaki disclosed that despite the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and some of his loyalists from the PDP, he still considers the former Rivers State Governor a personal friend.

Speaking during an interview on the Nigeria Right Now Show hosted by Dickson Iregbu, Turaki also revealed that the PDP has assembled a strong legal team to pursue the recovery of mandates of the 16 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who recently defected from the party.

While emphasizing that he does not disown his friends, Turaki maintained that party discipline must be upheld, stressing that the decision of the PDP’s highest organ, the National Convention, is final.

He noted that although Wike remains his close associate, the former governor is no longer a member of the PDP, adding that the expulsion can only be reversed by divine intervention. Turaki further expressed regret that those expelled chose to mislead others regarding the circumstances surrounding their exit from the party.

ADC chieftain and publisher, Dele Momodu, has dismissed calls for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, describing the push as unfair and politically motivated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Momodu was reacting to comments by activist Zekeri Idris Jnr, a supporter of Peter Obi, who urged Atiku to step aside over concerns about his age, which would be about 80 by 2027.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Momodu said attention should be focused on holding the government accountable rather than targeting Atiku’s political ambition.

The exchange followed a viral video where Idris insisted that Atiku should support younger aspirants instead of contesting, arguing that voters would not back an elderly candidate.

Idris also suggested that Atiku should act as a statesman and support younger politicians such as Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and others.

Responding, Momodu cited several world leaders who held office at advanced ages, arguing that experience should not be dismissed in leadership discussions.

He questioned what should disqualify Atiku from contesting, insisting that age alone is not a valid reason.

Atiku, who lost the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu, is reportedly considering another run in 2027 under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
