“Lai Mohammed Reveals How Exposing PDP Weaknesses Catapulted Him To National Fame”.
Former Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has revealed that his rise to national prominence stemmed from his relentless efforts in highlighting the weaknesses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government during its tenure from 2006 to 2015.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Mohammed, who served as Information Minister for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, shared this insight on Friday while delivering a convocation lecture titled “Don’t Just Graduate, Innovate” at Achievers University in Owo, Ondo State. The lecture was part of the university’s 15th convocation ceremony.
Reflecting on his time as an opposition spokesperson, Mohammed encouraged graduating students to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success, stressing the importance of perseverance in achieving their goals. He stated that his own political journey was shaped by persistence during the PDP’s dominance.
“Failure is not the opposite of success. It is part of the journey to success. You must reinvent yourself relentlessly. It is the only way to stay relevant,” he said.
Mohammed noted that between 2006 and 2015, he gained national recognition as an opposition spokesperson for the Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria, and All Progressives Congress by persistently exposing the ruling PDP government’s shortcomings. He emphasized that his team’s research-driven media interventions—through press conferences, interviews, and press releases, sometimes issued three times in a single day—positioned them as a credible alternative to the government and enabled them to set the national agenda.
He further recounted the challenges he faced, including harassment, arrests, and working without pay, adding that such experiences never deterred him. “Our fearlessness, innovation, and omnipresence made us powerful, even as I faced arrests by the DSS in Osogbo and the police in Lagos. Through it all, I remained unrelenting. I could not be intimidated,” Mohammed said.
