Tension Escalates As Ghana Deports Israelis Over Harsh Treatment Of Its Citizens.

Ghana has expelled three Israeli nationals in a decisive diplomatic response to what officials described as the “ill-treatment and unjustified deportation” of three Ghanaian travellers by Israeli authorities. According to Nivo News, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the action in a statement released on by Foreign Minister Sam Okudzeto.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The ministry stated that the Israelis, who arrived in Accra earlier on Thursday, were immediately deported after authorities determined that Ghanaian travellers had been unfairly targeted and traumatised upon arrival in Israel. The statement explained that the decision was a direct retaliation for the treatment meted out to Ghanaian citizens.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry further revealed that the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Israeli Embassy in Accra had been summoned to provide clarification, as the substantive ambassador is currently out of the country. Both nations have reportedly agreed to work toward an amicable settlement aimed at easing diplomatic tensions.

Ghana’s government reiterated its commitment to protecting the dignity of its citizens and all foreigners within its borders. It emphasized that it values its relationships with friendly nations and expects its nationals to receive the same level of respect abroad.

The move comes shortly after Ghana condemned the handling of its citizens at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, where seven travellers—including four lawmakers attending an international cybersecurity conference in Tel Aviv—were detained for hours on December 7. While the legislators were eventually released following extended diplomatic intervention, the remaining three travellers were deported and have since returned to Ghana.

Authorities in Accra described Israel’s conduct as provocative and unacceptable, stressing that it contradicts the longstanding diplomatic ties between both countries. The ministry also refuted claims by Israel suggesting that the Ghanaian Embassy in Tel Aviv had failed to cooperate, insisting that the mission followed all international procedures.

According to Nivo News, Ghana had earlier warned that reciprocal measures were under consideration before executing Thursday’s deportations. As of Wednesday evening, Israel had not issued any public response to the development.
