The Vice President is scheduled to join several African and global leaders attending the swearing-in ceremony slated for Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan. President Ouattara secured his fourth-term victory in the October 25, 2025 election, reaffirming Côte d’Ivoire’s political stability and its longstanding diplomatic partnership with Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Shettima has restated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to safeguarding and strengthening Nigeria’s traditional institutions. He stressed that traditional rulers remain the closest authorities to local communities and serve as enduring pillars of society whose influence surpasses political tenures.
Speaking at the 45th anniversary celebration of the Emir of Gumel, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Sani II, and the commissioning of the Gumel Central Mosque in Jigawa State last Friday, Shettima emphasized that elected political offices last only eight years, whereas traditional institutions stand the test of time. He called for continuous respect, care, and protection for traditional authorities across the country.
The Vice President congratulated the Emir for marking 45 years on the throne in good health and prayed for God’s blessings to enable him witness both his golden jubilee and centenary celebrations in the years ahead.
