Emefiele Denies Terrorism Financing Allegations, Labels Claims ‘Malicious And Fabricated’.

In a statement released on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Emefiele rejected reports suggesting his involvement in terrorist activities, calling the claims “fabricated” and “baseless.” He warned that such accusations are deliberate attempts to damage his reputation and mislead the public for unclear motives.
Emefiele also expressed concern about the rise of irresponsible reporting on sensitive national security issues. He emphasised that the fight against terrorism should not be trivialised, insisting that the Nigerian public deserves accurate information rather than “reckless misinformation.”
He stated: “Throughout my service to the nation and in my private life, at no time have I been involved in any activity remotely connected to terrorism, terrorist financing, or any action that threatens the peace and security of our nation. I have never been invited, questioned, or investigated on any allegation of terrorism financing. I have also never met or interacted with the individual who gave that interview.”
Emefiele reiterated that the claims were entirely false and urged the public to disregard the publication. He also called on media outlets to uphold journalistic integrity by avoiding unverified and sensational reporting.
