Cleric Exposes Why Politicians Flock To Famous General Overseers.
According to Nivo News, Femi Emmanuel, the Presiding Pastor of Livingspring Chapel International, has revealed that many politicians visit prominent General Overseers not for spiritual mentoring but to tap into the influence these religious leaders command through their massive followings.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking with journalists on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, Emmanuel explained that political figures are often more interested in the electoral value of these clerics than in any form of spiritual direction.
He stated that most politicians approach renowned religious leaders mainly to secure support from their congregations. “When politicians visit popular General Overseers, their mission is political. They want their members to vote for them,” he said.
Emmanuel noted that while religious leaders may offer prayers when asked, politicians ultimately prioritize the voices of those who can help them clinch party primaries. He stressed the need for Nigerians to better understand the political structure, pointing out that critical decisions at the grassroots are frequently made by individuals who may lack the competence to handle them.
He lamented the poor participation of well-meaning citizens in ward meetings. “Good Nigerians don’t attend ward meetings because they feel too sophisticated. But if you go there, you will weep,” he said, describing how people sometimes quarrel over small sums such as ₦1,000 meant for sharing. According to him, these same people choose delegates who ultimately determine candidates and, by extension, political leaders.
Emmanuel also urged the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu to adopt a more strategic and security-focused approach to governance. While acknowledging Tinubu’s courage, he stressed that the President must confront the difficult task of restoring security nationwide. “He didn’t create the terrorism challenge, but he must ensure peace returns to every part of Nigeria,” he added.
The cleric further argued that returning Nigeria to a regional system of government would resolve most of the country’s challenges. He warned that without such restructuring, the problems facing the nation would persist and possibly deepen.
