This appointment, announced by Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, is in recognition of Tinubu’s ambitious and people-focused efforts in the health sector.
Tinubu’s appointment came following a recommendation by the Committee of Heads of State and Government of Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, led by the President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the AU, Excellency Azali Assoumani.
In a statement, Ngelale highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to training 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide within 16 months, doubling the number of primary health facilities across Nigeria, and increasing health personnel enrollment capacity from accredited nursing and midwifery institutions.
Additionally, Tinubu aims to establish a paid volunteer youth force of social accountability officers to monitor the operational functioning and financial integrity of primary health centers.
The African Union recognized Tinubu as the right champion for this noble continental effort, praising his dedication to improving healthcare access in Nigeria.
Tinubu has been invited to address the Ministerial Executive Leadership Programme (MELP) on impactful leadership in health, scheduled for February 17, 2024, at the Africa CDC Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The statement also noted that the Tinubu administration is attracting global investments in Nigeria’s health sector to provide cutting-edge infrastructure, equipment, and world-class manpower for improved access to quality healthcare for all Nigerians.

In a unanimous decision led by Justice Mohammed Idris, the Supreme Court nullified a 2025 Court of Appeal judgment that had previously overturned the forfeiture order.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal erred in its decision to order a fresh hearing at the Federal High Court.

Consequently, the apex court fully restored the original 2024 final forfeiture order granted by Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Forfeited Assets
The assets permanently forfeited to the Federal Government include:

Properties in Lagos: Two detached duplexes in Lekki Phase 1, an undeveloped parcel of land on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, a bungalow and a four-bedroom duplex in Ikoyi, eight apartment units on Adekunle Lawal Road, and a duplex on Bank Road.

Properties in Delta State: An industrial complex currently under construction, situated on 22 plots of land in Agbor.

Funds and Financial Assets: The forfeiture includes $2.045 million in cash and share certificates associated with Queensdorf Global Fund Limited.
