NAHCON Unveils Strict 2026 Hajj Rules, Penalizes Pilgrims Who Miss Flights.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has unveiled strict guidelines for the 2026 Hajj, introducing new directives on flight management, group organization, medical eligibility, and mandatory data submission for pilgrims.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a press release titled “NAHCON Directs Airlines to Issue 2026 Hajj Tickets Ahead of Departure,” dated December 4, 2025, the Commission outlined measures aimed at ensuring smooth travel arrangements and full awareness of departure schedules among pilgrims.

The directives, issued following a meeting with State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards and the four accredited Hajj carriers at NAHCON headquarters in Abuja, require all Hajj carriers to issue tickets in coordination with state boards. Each ticket will be digitally linked to a pilgrim’s Nusuk Card, pre-positioned in their assigned buses in Saudi Arabia. Missing a flight will attract penalties, NAHCON warned.

Pilgrims will travel in assigned groups of 45, led by a designated leader, and will stay together in the same hotels in Makkah, Madinah, and Masha’ir, returning to Nigeria as a group. Vital travel records, including names, group numbers, and accommodation details, must be uploaded to the Nusuk Masar platform at least 72 hours before departure. Absentee pilgrims will be considered no-shows and may be required to pay for unused seats.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has introduced a boarding card for each pilgrim, detailing airline information, passenger lists, and departure and arrival data. NAHCON warned that mismatched accommodation bookings could result in forfeited Hajj slots and requested states to ensure timely fare payments.

Health protocols have also been reinforced. Pilgrims with certain medical conditions—including organ failure, ongoing cancer treatment, severe psychiatric or neurological disorders, dementia, high-risk pregnancies, or infectious diseases—are prohibited from traveling. Any violators will bear the full cost of deportation. Only certified hospitals are to be engaged for medical screenings.

Airline allocations for 2026 have been communicated to State Pilgrims Boards, with approved carriers including Air Peace, Fly Nas, Max Air, and Umza Air. NAHCON Chairman Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman emphasized that the success of the Hajj relies on collaboration between the Commission, airlines, and state boards.
