The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that these arrests and rescues are part of an ongoing investigation into a case of alleged abduction and child trafficking, currently being handled discreetly by the SCID in Minna. The investigation initially involved Mrs. Victoria Ebunoha Chukwumezie, who was arrested near Dikko Junction on November 5, 2025.
Three additional suspects—Chioma Onyanja, 45, of Nyanya, Abuja; Joy Ndife, 48, of Kurudu, Abuja; and Olusegun Isaiah Anjorin, 44, of Orozo, Abuja—were apprehended by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit on November 28, 2025, along the Nasarawa–Abuja axis.
The three rescued children, reportedly abducted from Gajere, Tafa in September 2025, are Saifullahi Abdulmumini, five months old; Possible Danlami, four years old; and Safiya Mamman Sani, one year and six months old. Abiodun explained that Saifullahi was found in Chioma Onyanja’s residence, who claimed she received the baby in August 2025 from Evangelist Rosemary of Divine Majesty Church, Nyanya, Abuja, paying N2.7 million for the child.
Possible Danlami was located at the home of Joy Ndife, who operates an orphanage and children’s school called Emmavies in Mararaba, Nasarawa State. Joy stated that Victoria Chukwumezie had brought the child to her house in September 2025, claiming the baby was unwanted. Safiya Sani was rescued from Pastor Olusegun of Covenant Fulfilment Ministry, Masaka, Nasarawa State, who runs Elohim Orphanage and Benevolent Care Centre, Orozo, Abuja. He stated that Victoria brought the child to the orphanage, claiming she was abandoned by a young girl and required assistance to care for her and six other children; he reportedly paid one million naira for the baby.
All three children were rescued safely and reunited with their families. The full list of rescued children now includes Muhammadu Hussaini, Kasimu Saidu, Idris Saidu, Ummi Kairi Salisu, Goodnews Sunday, Rahmat Mohammed, Saifullahi Abdulmumini, Safiya Mamman Sani, and Possible Danlami.
Those in custody include Victoria Chukwumezie, Harrieta Obiakor, Divine Sunday, Rosemary Ogbulogo, Vincent Emmanuel, Rose Nwabufor, Chioma Onyanja, Joy Ndife, Olusegun Isaiah Anjorin, Leo Ugochukwu, and Ngozi Ugochukwu.
SP Abiodun added that investigations are ongoing to recover additional missing or trafficked children and apprehend other potential accomplices.
