Borno Woman’s Buried Treasure Worth N23.6m Recovered After 15 Years.
Borno State police have recovered gold valued at approximately N23.6 million, which a woman reportedly buried 15 years ago in Mallamfatori, Abadam local government area, while fleeing a Boko Haram attack.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to the woman, she concealed the gold in the sand before escaping the town and recently returned to report the discovery to the police, seeking assistance in retrieving it.
ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, stated that officers conducted a search based on her directions. The recovered items include 22cc of gold estimated at N20 million and a gold bracelet with a chain valued at N3.6 million.
Authorities noted that the case highlights the disruptive impact of insurgency, which has forced many residents to abandon their possessions in their bid to escape violence.
Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid praised the Mallamfatori Divisional Police Officer and his team for demonstrating “honesty, professionalism, and integrity,” emphasizing that their actions reflect the core values of the Nigeria Police Force and help strengthen public trust.
CP Abdulmajid reiterated the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to collaborate closely with law enforcement to enhance security in the state.
