Amaechi Explodes: “Stop Linking Me To Any Running Mate Deal!”.

Published

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has firmly dismissed circulating claims suggesting he is considering a bid for the vice-presidential seat in the 2027 general elections. According to Nivo News, his reaction followed comments by Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, who hinted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar might look in Amaechi’s direction for a running mate should Peter Obi decline to join him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking through his media aide, David Iyofor, Amaechi made it clear that he has no intention of serving as a running mate to any politician. Iyofor stressed that the former Rivers State governor is focused solely on pursuing the presidency and is not involved in any discussions or negotiations regarding the vice-presidential slot.

Iyofor emphasized that Amaechi is convinced that the South should produce Nigeria’s next president and is therefore committed to seeking the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He reiterated that Amaechi would not entertain any political arrangements suggesting otherwise.

For clarity, Iyofor stated that Amaechi seeks the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and should not be included in any ongoing debates or speculations about a potential running mate. Amaechi, who previously contested the APC presidential primary in 2023, defected to the ADC earlier this year and has since declared his intention to vie for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 polls.

He argued that despite their prominence, no northern politician has a wider voter base than him.

Atiku specifically said Kwankwaso’s influence is largely limited to Kano State, adding that even there, political support is now split between the former governor and Governor Abba Yusuf.

“Can you tell who is a current leader in the North who has more votes than I have? Talking of leaders like Tambuwal, Kwankwaso, El-Rufai and also the emerging political leaders, none of them have got that northern vote as much as I’ve got,” he said.
