Retired Judge Found Bound And Lifeless: One Arrested, Another Fugitive.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect and the launch of a manhunt following the killing of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu. According to Nivo News, spokesperson for the command, SP Bright Edafe, announced in a statement on Sunday that a man identified as Lucky Matthew is currently in custody, while the prime suspect, Godwin Vanem, remains at large.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Edafe revealed that on November 24, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘A’ Division in Asaba received a distress report from the deceased judge’s brother, who visited her residence and found her lifeless in the sitting room with her hands, legs, and mouth bound. He said officers immediately moved to the scene where the body was evacuated and taken to the morgue for autopsy.

He added that preliminary findings indicate that Vanem is strongly suspected to have carried out the attack before fleeing the apartment. Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for a thorough probe.

The police commissioner has also expressed condolences to the family of the late Justice Okogwu and assured them that those responsible will be brought to justice. The command appealed to members of the public with relevant information to assist the ongoing investigation.

In a separate operation, the command rescued seven boys allegedly held against their will by a suspected internet fraud syndicate known as Hustlers Kingdom in the Warri area. Two suspects were arrested during the raid. According to Nivo News, Edafe explained that the police acted after receiving a complaint from one of the victims, who said he was lured into the apartment and later subjected to beatings whenever the group failed to secure paying clients.

He noted that operatives attached to the Quick Response Squad swiftly stormed the building, rescued the victims, and apprehended the two self-acclaimed “chairmen” overseeing the illegal operation.

President Tinubu has given full backing for the implementation of the ₦68.32 trillion 2026 budget after signing the Appropriation Bill passed by the National Assembly into law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.

The focus, according to the administration, is on infrastructure development, security, and growth-driven investments aimed at improving living standards.
