According to Nivo News, the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has debunked widespread rumours announcing the death of veteran Nollywood legend, Olalere Paimo. Earlier on Saturday, a prominent celebrity journalist and Chairman of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oleketuyi, had posted on Instagram that the 86-year-old cultural icon had passed away, noting that the actor had previously survived two strokes.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oleketuyi’s post, which quickly gained traction online, claimed that “Chief Lere Paimo (MON) is dead” and prayed for the rest of his soul. However, ANTP swiftly countered the claims in a statement issued by its National Public Relations Officer, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, confirming that the actor, popularly known as Baba Eda Onile Ola, is alive and in stable condition.
The association said it had directly contacted the actor’s wife, who affirmed that Paimo was alive and healthy. ANTP described the circulating reports as falsehoods being spread by individuals intent on causing confusion. The statement urged members of the public to exercise caution and always verify sensitive information before sharing to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on X on Sunday.
According to the report, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 17, when soldiers at a Forward Operating Base in Gatawa received intelligence about terrorist movements in the area.
The troops immediately moved to the location, where they engaged the attackers in a gun duel. The assailants were later forced to withdraw after coming under heavy military pressure.
About 30 armed men were said to have entered the village on foot, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.
Six civilians sustained injuries during the attack and were evacuated to the General Hospital in Sabon Birni for medical treatment, where they are currently receiving care.
Makama added that troops have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents of their safety.
