Veteran Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has revealed that his eldest son, Nino, has no intention of pursuing a career in music despite his talent as a saxophonist. 2Baba made the revelation while introducing Nino on stage during an event in Abuja commemorating his 25 years in the music industry. “Making some noise for my son Nino, mehn,” he told the audience. “He said he doesn’t want to be a singer. He wants to be a doctor,” he added, prompting cheers from attendees.
Nino, born on January 15, 2006, to 2Baba and his former partner Sumbo Adeoye, has demonstrated musical talent but remains committed to his academic ambitions.
Meanwhile, 2Baba and Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy. The birth sparked speculation earlier on Friday when Osawaru was reportedly seen at a hospital. She later confirmed the news on her official Facebook page, stating that the couple had been “blessed with a baby boy,” triggering a flood of congratulatory messages from fans and well-wishers.
The couple formalized their union earlier this year following 2Baba’s separation from Annie Idibia in January. Their relationship has attracted public attention since the Valentine’s Eve proposal, family visits, and traditional rites. In July, they held a private traditional wedding in Abuja attended by close family members, further solidifying their new chapter together.
Following his recent primary victory, African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has initiated the process of selecting a running mate for the upcoming 2027 general election. Despite these overtures, reports indicate that neither Amaechi nor Hayatu-Deen is currently being considered for the vice-presidential position. Instead, focus has shifted toward the South-East region, a zone viewed by party insiders as a strategic political ally. Emeka Ihedioha, the former governor of Imo State, has emerged as a leading candidate for the role. Ihedioha is noted for his loyalty to the party and his significant efforts in securing regional support for Atiku during the primaries, unlike many others who defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Conversely, concerns persist regarding Amaechi’s political influence, with sources suggesting that his lack of firm control over his home state, Rivers, and the broader South-South region makes his selection a strategic risk. Regarding the selection timeline, Atiku’s Special Adviser, Paul Ibe, confirmed that the party is actively consulting to finalize its ticket in accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) schedule. While Ibe dismissed the likelihood of Amaechi being selected, he remained non-committal regarding Ihedioha’s candidacy, stating only that consultations remain ongoing.
