Kano Government Demands Arrest Of Ex-Governor Ganduje Over Militia Comments.

According to Nivo News, the State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, announced the development on Friday while briefing journalists following the state’s executive council meeting.

Waiya explained that bandits had infiltrated communities in Kano and abducted several residents less than 48 hours after Ganduje publicly expressed intentions to form a militia group in the state. He commended the efforts of President Bola Tinubu in safeguarding the lives and property of Kano citizens.

“Less than 48 hours after former Governor Ganduje’s declaration of wanting to create a militia group in the state, bandits attacked a Kano community and abducted several people,” Waiya said.

Meanwhile, Ganduje recently revealed that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State had agreed to publicly endorse President Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. He made the statement at the final session of a four-day strategy meeting held at his residence, which included APC chairmen, caucus members, and key stakeholders from all 44 local government areas.

Ganduje stated that the consultations were aimed at rebuilding trust within the party and reinforcing internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections. “The purpose of this meeting over the last three days has been to ensure complete unity in our party from top to bottom and to reaffirm our solidarity with the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

He added that the turnout and commitment of delegates from across the state reflected their determination to maintain APC’s dominance in Kano and across the country.

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.
