RS Berkane have arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as they prepare for their CAF Champions League group stage match against Rivers United. The team is scheduled to train at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Thursday at 5 p.m., offering players their first opportunity to familiarize themselves with the pitch ahead of Friday’s encounter.

The two sides enter the match on contrasting paths. Rivers United seek to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to Pyramids FC, while RS Berkane started their campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Power Dynamos. The group’s other fixture will see Pyramids face Power Dynamos.

Ahead of the trip, head coach Mouine Chaabani expressed confidence in his team’s prospects in Nigeria. He emphasized that their opening win provided momentum and underlined the team’s ambition to secure a positive result on foreign soil.

“We will travel to Nigeria to face Rivers United with the aim of returning with a positive outcome, preferably an away victory,” Chaabani stated. “We are aware it will be a challenging game, and our goal remains to progress as far as possible in the CAF Champions League.”

Chaabani also provided updates on two players who experienced minor issues during their opening match. “Murabit felt some discomfort in his knee after 15 minutes of play, but it is not serious. Mehri’s concern is also minor, and we will continue monitoring both with our medical team,” he said.

RS Berkane’s journey began Wednesday morning at Oujda Angad Airport, with a layover in Lagos before completing the final leg to Uyo. Senegalese referee Issa Sy has been appointed by CAF to officiate the match.
