He recalled that the emotional moment happened after receiving a video call showing his daughter, Deja, giving her first-ever performance. Adekunle Gold explained that watching the milestone from a distance filled him with a blend of joy, pride, and sadness as he wished he could have been physically present with his family.

The singer noted that the experience made him reflect on the personal sacrifices that come with building a thriving career while trying to be available for loved ones. He added that the intense emotions he felt that day inspired his song “My Love Is the Same.”

Sharing the experience, he said, “The last time I cried was about two or three months ago. Deja was performing, and I wasn’t there. They called me on video to show me because it was her first performance. I was like, this is crazy—the price you pay for building and doing what you have to do while still trying to take care of your family. It’s one of the reasons I wrote ‘My Love Is the Same.’ Watching her, I wished I was there, and I started to cry.”

THE RETURN OF THE KING? Atiku Abubakar Storms Back Into Nigeria Amid Political Firestorm!.

Published

on

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, has arrived back in Nigeria following an overseas trip. His return was confirmed by former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie in a social media post on Saturday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In addition to his return, Atiku addressed ongoing legal challenges involving the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Key points from his reaction include:

  • Atiku alleged that efforts to judicially deregister the NDC demonstrate President Bola Tinubu’s “desperate determination” to establish a one-party state in Nigeria.

  • He claimed that the President is fearful of a free and fair election in 2027 and that these actions contradict the democratic aspirations of the Nigerian people.

  • The legal situation follows a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, Kogi State, where Justice Isah Dashen set aside a previous judgment that had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC.

  • The court ruled that the December 10, 2025, judgment was flawed because the Peace Movement Party (PMP) was not included as a necessary party to the suit.

  • In a statement released by his media office, Atiku warned that attempts to undermine opposition parties could lead to chaos and anarchy, emphasizing that free and fair elections are the “soul of democracy”.

  • Reversal of Previous Judgment: A Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi state, set aside its own earlier judgment that had previously ordered INEC to register the NDC as a political party.

  • Inclusion of Interested Parties: The ruling resulted from an application by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which argued it should have been included in the initial case.

  • Requirement for New Proceedings: Judge Dashen ordered that the substantive suit be restarted, requiring INEC, the PMP, and the NDC to all be joined as parties to the case.

  • INEC’s Current Position: Although INEC is aware of the ruling made on Friday, the commission stated it cannot comment or take action until it receives and reviews the certified true copy of the judgment.
