Marco Silva Wants Chukwueze To Step Up After Assist Seals Vital Victory.

Published

According to Nivo News, Fulham manager Marco Silva has urged Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze to build on his recent match-winning performance and secure a regular spot in the club’s starting lineup.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Chukwueze was named the Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match after providing the assist for Fulham’s only goal in their 1-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday. The 26-year-old winger received 39.29 percent of the fan votes, comfortably surpassing Raúl Jiménez, who came second with 15.60 percent, and Harry Wilson with 9.77 percent.

The Nigerian international was introduced in the 64th minute, replacing Brazilian forward Kevin, and made an immediate impact. Twenty minutes later, he delivered a precise cross from the left that found Jiménez, who calmly converted to secure Fulham’s fourth league win in 12 matches. Earlier in the game, Chukwueze had also set up a scoring opportunity for Jiménez, though the striker’s header went wide.

Silva praised the summer signing for his contribution and emphasized his growing role in the team. “He had a huge impact. It was a great assist from him, and we’re pleased for him. Now we need him to start games and keep the intensity throughout the 90 minutes,” Silva said.

Chukwueze joined Fulham on a season-long loan from AC Milan, reuniting with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey. The loan deal includes a non-mandatory option to buy, with reports suggesting the total package could exceed €25 million.

Since his arrival, Chukwueze has had a slow start, appearing in only five matches, all from the bench, and totaling 108 minutes on the pitch. He has provided two assists, but his performance against Sunderland has intensified calls for a Premier League start. Silva insists that Chukwueze must continue to capitalize on opportunities to cement his place in the lineup.

Chukwueze, who first gained attention with Nigeria’s U-17 team in 2015, previously spent five successful years at Villarreal, scoring goals and providing assists, and won the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League. He moved to AC Milan in 2023 for €20 million but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, scoring four goals and registering five assists over two seasons.

The APC said the claim was a deliberate attempt to create confusion and damage the image of the party, stressing that no recognised structure within the party in Kano had taken such a decision.

It further stated that the so-called group does not represent the views or interests of APC members in the state and is not recognised within the party hierarchy.

Mahdi Shehu Faults Terrorists’ Rehabilitation, Says It Disrespects Victims.

Published

Public affairs commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has criticised ongoing government efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate former insurgents and convicted criminals, describing the policy as one that undermines victims and law-abiding citizens.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a post on his verified X handle on Friday, Shehu argued that the primary duty of the state is to enforce the law strictly, maintain order, and protect lives and property without compromise.

He stated that forgiveness of offenders, in his view, belongs to God and not government institutions.

According to him, “It is the prerogative of God to forgive offenders, sinners and other murderers on judgement day.”

Shehu also faulted various rehabilitation and amnesty programmes for ex-militants and insurgents over the years, including members of Boko Haram and ISWAP, saying such policies risk sending the wrong signal to society.

He cited reports that over 700 repentant insurgents recently completed de-radicalisation training and are being prepared for reintegration into communities, questioning the wisdom of returning them to areas they previously attacked.

Shehu warned that such decisions could anger victims’ families and potentially encourage criminal behaviour among unemployed youths who may see similar treatment as an incentive.

He concluded that the policy reflects what he described as a troubling imbalance in the justice system.
