According to Nivo News, Nottingham Forest stunned the football world on Saturday with a commanding 3-0 victory over defending Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield, delivering one of the biggest shocks of the season. Murillo opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, reacting quickly in the area after an Elliot Anderson corner, with the goal confirmed following a brief review. Barely seconds into the second half, Forest sliced through the champions again when Nicolo Savona connected with a sharp pass from Neco Williams and fired high into the top-right corner. Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the triumph in the 79th minute with a composed left-footed finish, capping off a performance defined by precision and belief.

Forest were ruthless in transition, recording seven shots on target from just 13 attempts. Anderson, Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson all forced saves as the visitors maintained control, composure and intent throughout the encounter. Liverpool, meanwhile, generated more attempts but lacked efficiency, producing only three shots on target from 19 efforts through Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai. Despite also winning more corners—eight to Forest’s six—the home side failed to alter the narrative.

Manager Arne Slot attempted to change the dynamic by introducing Hugo Ekitike, Federico Chiesa, Andy Robertson and youngster Pearl Ngumoha, but the breakthrough never arrived. Two late yellow cards summed up a frustrating evening for the hosts. The result lifts Forest to 12 points and gives them a major confidence boost with a clean sheet on the road, while Liverpool remain on 18 points and have now endured consecutive 3-0 defeats in the league.

At the Amex Stadium, Brighton mounted an inspired comeback to defeat Brentford 2-1. Brentford had initially believed they were ahead in the 23rd minute before VAR intervened, but they soon earned a penalty six minutes later which Igor Thiago converted. Brighton reshaped their approach at halftime with the introduction of Lewis Dunk and Maxime De Cuyper, and the momentum shifted instantly. Their persistence paid off in the 71st minute when Danny Welbeck steered in a clever ball from Georginio Rutter.

Jack Hinshelwood completed the turnaround in the 84th minute with a well-timed run and confident finish. The drama intensified in stoppage time as Brentford were awarded a second penalty in the 90+4 minute, but Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen made a crucial save to deny Thiago’s brace. Michael Kayode forced another late effort on target, but Brighton held firm to secure the points. The hosts dominated the second half, winning the corner count 7-4 and embracing the physical demands of the contest, finishing with four yellow cards. Their two goals continued their pattern of thriving late in matches this season.

Elsewhere, Nivo News gathered that Chelsea earned a solid 2-0 victory at Burnley, Bournemouth and West Ham battled to a 2-2 draw, Crystal Palace secured a 2-0 win over Wolves, and Fulham edged Sunderland 1-0. The late kick-off features Newcastle hosting Manchester City in one of the weekend’s most anticipated games.

Okpebholo made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, where he insisted that Tinubu remains the strongest candidate going into the next election.

He also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, and ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, alleging that they have all previously held positions where, according to him, they failed to deliver effectively for Nigeria.

The governor argued that Tinubu has introduced significant reforms and achievements that position him for a second term in office.

He further attributed the country’s insecurity challenges to what he described as “evil forces,” claiming that efforts to curb them are being sabotaged.

According to him, opposition figures are using insecurity issues to undermine the current administration.

Okpebholo maintained that Tinubu’s performance will secure him victory at the polls, questioning who among the opposition candidates could do better.

He said Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi have all had opportunities in leadership roles, insisting they did not perform satisfactorily.

He also referenced Atiku’s time as Vice President, noting his involvement in the privatization programme during that period.
