Scores of armed criminals have been eliminated in Zamfara State after Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets conducted precision airstrikes on a major terrorist enclave in Sauri, Tsafe Local Government Area. According to Nivo News, the operation also destroyed key structures and logistics hubs used by the armed groups, a development expected to significantly weaken their operational strength in the region.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The coordinated assault took place on November 14 following extensive intelligence and surveillance missions that confirmed a concentration of terrorists and rustled livestock hidden in a fortified high-ground location serving as both a defensive shelter and supply base. NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the Air Component launched multiple strikes that recorded direct hits, forcing surviving terrorists to flee into nearby vegetation, where they were tracked and neutralised.

According to Nivo News, the successful operation aligns with the directive of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, who recently ordered security forces to intensify efforts to “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.” The action also reinforces the resolve of the Joint Task Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist safe havens and enhance security across Zamfara State and the wider North West.

In a separate development, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed reports circulating online alleging that a Brigade Commander was abducted during an ambush in Borno State. The military clarified that the claim was false and urged the public to disregard it. According to Nivo News, the clarification came through Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Apollonia Anele, who explained that troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade, led by Brigadier-General M. Uba, were returning from a successful patrol around the fringes of Sambisa Forest when they came under heavy insurgent fire near Wajiroko in the Damboa area.

The troops reportedly fought back with superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to retreat and abandon their mission, though the encounter resulted in the loss of two soldiers and two Civilian Joint Task Force members. The Army high command commended the troops’ bravery and expressed condolences to the families of the fallen personnel. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu, praised the courage and resilience of the soldiers, describing their sacrifice as a powerful reminder of the commitment of Nigeria’s security forces operating in high-risk conflict zones.
